Ever think about Lawyers? They are a resilient race of people. It seems to be that on the whole they're so into being them & being lawyers that they think they're better than anyone else.

Take their naming convention, for example...
Lawyers name their businesses according to the partners there...even if the name sounds stupid. "Cohen, Mazaltof & Snaggletooth".

Further more, if two(or more) brothers are in the business, more often than not they'll change the name to something even stupider like, "Cohen, Cohen, Rosenberg & Cohen."

In every other business, as more employees and partners are added, the name stays the same. For example even big business like Merrill Lynch, Charlie Merrill has been gone for quite some time as is Mr. Lynch.....the name certainly hasn't changed.

Lawyers charge alot of $$, lie alot & are very proud of who they are.

Check out Steve Munson's Blog. He is very smart.

Stayed at work late yesterday working on a design for a friend's band's site.
I work down by the World Financial Center, right on the water on the West side of Manhattan.

Throughout the summer the Hudson River Festival is going on outside. Its just cool stuff like free concerts, swimming contests, poetry things & other cultural stuff. Usually the concerts are ok, but nothing extra special.

So I'm sitting here and I hear good music outside & CROWDS cheering, etc. So I figured I'd check it out before I left. Ends up its the NYC Punk Motha Patti Smith. TOTALLY INSANE.

Listening, participating & just being among the people there I found a familiar sense. Its what Keck talked about in his Tuesday, June 10 blog. It was just that I wanted to throw my arms in the air and worship Jesus. I know it may sound weird, but its true. Its the same feeling I get when I hear lyrics to a worship song that just make me what to worship Him.

Don't here me overspiritualizing this, but I know that there is a natural connection between a real passion & cry for anything & worship. I guess basically because thats all the activity of worshiping (anything) is.

This experience comes at an interesting time b/c I've been struggling to write songs. My songs. Worship songs, not worship songs, anything. I feel like I'm on the edge, but just not making it over.

So with the backdrop of Patti Smith, I get an email today with this McLaren Article: An Open Letter to Worship Songwriters . Check it out. His quomes are my quomes. To have integrity in our time, our cry, our art, our lives, our worship needs to be real. Even that sounds cliqe'ish. whatever.

By all means, SHOUT OUT!

The totally sexy hand & guitar neck on the far left, ALL ME ripping up the joint at CB's Gallery.

So we're back. From upstate. E's grandfather isn't really the nicest guy. He's into hunting, so there are deer, bears, coyotes, birds, elks, etc. on the walls. He's also pretty mean. E's mom came up with her 4 little kids for the 4th weekend. To make a long story short, he doesn't like kids (even his own grandkids) & ended up just being a jerk to the point that Diane & Nick left late Saturday night to end the abuse. Our vaca was ok. Not great, but ok. Ron (E's grandfather) expects the dinner on the table and dishes done etc....so it wasn't much vaca for E. Sucks. He does have a couple ATVs & this own fishing pond and a creek so that stuff was decent.

I'm back at work, which is actually a lonely place right now. I so wish I could not be here.

Lance (Pittluck) was in town last last weekend (before we went away). For those of you who don't know him, he started the Vineyard on LI in 1984, has served as kind of a 'father' to the Vineyard churches in the NY Metro Area. He's now the pastor of the Anaheim Vineyard. I was so nice to hear the simplicity of the gospel lived out in our lives. & it just those simple things that challenge me.

Like: To be enamered with Jesus and the things of the kingdom. To be more interested in loving and serving our first love than in building the church. & just relating to the Father in his mercy for me, rather than my own doings, or failings, or anything else.

In the business of life here, I had gotten too busy with other stuff, even with serving & following jesus that I had neglected Him. & in Him is everything.

+Lord, thanks for being here and consistant with me.+
